About the Role
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Dispatch Manager for the Southwest region, the Night Dispatcher serves as a critical communication point between drivers, dairy farms, and customers. This role is responsible for coordinating milk pickups, tracking deliveries, managing scheduling adjustments, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards during overnight operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily milk pickups from various barns to ensure efficient routing and timely delivery.
Communicate with dairy farms, truck drivers, and customers to maintain accurate and updated delivery schedules.
Monitor milk supply and demand, making real-time adjustments as needed to meet operational goals.
Maintain detailed records of deliveries, routes, customer orders, and other dispatch-related information.
Track and record temperatures of milk samples to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Proactively resolve delivery issues or conflicts, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations pertaining to dairy transportation.
Promote and enforce safe milk handling practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatch or logistics
Obtain and maintain a milk handler certification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with drivers and customers
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Google Docs and transportation management software (PCS)
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to transportation
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, on-call and after-hours, as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead
